Chicago has Mortal Kombat X fantasy art - Chicago art exhibits

Mortal Kombat X is now showing on posters in Chicago-land. JC Decaux is the advertising firm name above these posters. This is advertising and Fantasy Art Style.

Lacking pupils, a malevolent character stares out at viewers. (It is probably Reptile or Scorpion.) This character also has a metal mask over his nose and mouth. Since these posters are within glass at bus stop booths, reflections add other, otherworldly, eerie qualities to this art.

Depictions of angels, demons, dragons, ghosts, goblins, ghouls, vampires and witches are part of fantasy art. Lesser known creatures are kraken and manticores. Such characters have been part of the human psyche for thousands of years.

Mortal Kombat has protagonists like Raiden, Johnny Cage, Jax and Cassie Cage (There are several others.) who are defenders of the Earth realm. Their enemies are Goro, Reptile, Scorpion and Sub-Zero. (There are many others.) All of these are adept in the martial arts.

The first, Mortal Kombat movie appeared in 1995. The next sequel was Mortal Kombat: Annihilation in 1997. Mortal Kombat: Conquest followed in 1998. Threshold Entertainment was one of the production companies for all three. New Line Cinema was one of the production companies for the first two.

NetherRealm Studios is the producer of this latest edition of Mortal Kombat (the 10th). The latest edition will operate on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows. YouTube has many Mortal Kombat, video clips.

The Mortal Kombat X poster is an excellent, fantasy art depiction. Viewers should not stare at it too long. Watch out for Sub-Zero!
